Detectives are investigating two tragic incidents of fatal stabbings in different parts of Kenya. The first incident occurred on the night of Friday, May 31, in the Kaptembwo area of Nakuru, where a man was attacked by suspected thugs.
The victim and a woman were walking home when they were confronted by a gang of four armed with crude weapons. During the attempted robbery, the man was stabbed in the abdomen. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The woman survived and reported the attack to the police. Nakuru police boss Samuel Ndanyi indicated that a team of detectives is investigating the murder, suspecting that the victim was attacked for resisting the robbery. Local residents have protested the increase in armed crime and have called for enhanced police operations to address the issue.
In a separate incident, police are investigating the murder of a 33-year-old man in Kikuyu Town, Kiambu County. James Chege’s body was discovered by relatives in his house on Friday, May 31.
He was found lying in a pool of blood on his sofa, with visible injuries on his head, left ear, and right hand, and blood oozing from his mouth. Chege was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Chege had been involved in a fight with a woman in the Muthiga area on May 29. The circumstances leading to the fight are unclear, and the assailant has not yet been arrested. The police have moved Chege’s body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
