Police in Mwiki, Nairobi, have launched investigations after a body of a 6-year-old boy was found in the Nairobi River.
While confirming the unfortunate incident, Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei noted that the minor’s body was still in a school uniform at the time of the discovery.
He noted that the minor may have drowned while attempting to cross the river.
The police boss underscored that the minor may have died days earlier and his body was swept to the scene since he was still in a uniform on a Sunday.
“Unless he drowned on the same day and was in uniform we find it unusual. He might have died days earlier and the body swept to the scene,” he stated.
The deceased’s body was moved to a mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
Separate incident
In a similar incident, a family in Njoro, Nakuru county is mourning the death of their 9-year-old son who drowned in a water tank.
The parents of the boy identified as Ryan Murimi say they left the deceased at home alone and headed to the market. When they returned they discovered that he was missing.
Upon searching all over the house compound they found the lifeless body of their boy floating inside the water tank.
The body was moved to a local morgue pending further probe.
