Police in Mlolongo, Machakos county are investigating the death of a man whose body was found dumped.

While confirming the incident, Syokimau assistant chief David Kilonzo noted that the deceased aged between 30 and 40 years was found dead at the All Park area on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

Preliminary reports revealed that the deceased may have been attacked by unknown assailants who may have hit him on the head using a blunt object.

Police are currently searching for the relatives of the deceased.

“The body showed signs that the deceased might have been killed by unknown assailants who used blunt objects to end his life,” Kilonzo stated.

The body of the deceased was moved to Shalom community hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

Separate incident

Elsewhere in Athi River, a 48-year-old man was killed after a suspected gas explosion.

Witnesses who spoke to the media noted that the cooking gas belonging to the deceased exploded at around 11.30 am when he was fast asleep.

According to witnesses, the fire started at the house of the deceased before spreading to other houses. However, the other tenants escaped unhurt.

Athi River sub-county police commander Luckyton Mudavadi confirmed the incident noting that they were investigating the matter.

“Fire believed to have been caused by a gas explosion broke at Athi-river. It is unfortunate that one person lost his life during the incident. All other tenants who were indoors then managed to escape unhurt,” Mudavadi stated.

The families of the houses affected have appealed to well-wishers and the county government for financial assistance to help them get back on their feet.
