Police nab 2 men, seize 9 sacks of bhang in Narok

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), acting on credible intelligence, nabbed two men and recovered a huge haul of bhang in Narok County.

In a statement on the DCI official X account on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the detectives stated that operations were conducted by a team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU)

Detectives have revealed that the team, while acting on credible intelligence, executed a well-coordinated raid at the Suswa Shopping Centre in Narok County.

“A team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) has apprehended two narcotics traffickers, seizing a significant haul of cannabis sativa. Acting on credible intelligence, the team executed a well-coordinated raid at the Suswa Shopping Centre in Narok County,” DCI said.

The team then intercepted a vehicle, which, upon search, was found packed to the brim with the prohibited substance.

Detectives have revealed that the team swiftly apprehended the driver and his accomplice at the scene.

Likewise, the detectives have stated the huge haul was packed in nine sacks and that the two persons of interest are currently in custody as they await arraignment.

“A preliminary inspection of the vehicle revealed nine (9) sacks of cannabis sativa. The suspects are currently in custody as authorities process their case in preparation for arraignment,” DCI said.

On the other hand, according to the detectives, the seized vehicle and narcotic substances are being held as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.

Kericho crackdown

In a similar incident, police in Kericho County have intercepted a major narcotics haul after a dramatic chase along the Kericho–Molo–Nakuru Highway.

The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement issued on their official X account on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, said police officers stated that they recovered over 300 kg of bhang.

The officers from Kericho revealed that while acting on a tip-off, they intercepted a motor vehicle suspected of trafficking narcotics.

“Over 300kg of bhang recovered in Kericho County. Acting on a tip-off, police in Kericho intercepted a motor vehicle suspected of trafficking narcotics,” police said.

According to the police, the vehicle was first flagged down at the Londiani Junction; however, the rider defied orders to stop and sped off towards the Kericho–Molo–Nakuru Highway.

After the dramatic speed chase, the rider eventually gave up and abandoned his vehicle at the Mau Summit and took off on the run by foot.
