Police in Mombasa have arrested the leader of the notorious Kibokoni Panga Boys that has been terrorising residents of Kibokoni area and its environments.

Abdulkadir Mohamed was nabbed on Sunday evening while attending a football match in Kibokoni area, by officers from Mombasa’s Central Police Station who were acting on intelligence.

The suspect was found with a panga stashed in his trousers, the first indication that he was part of the gang that has left people injured.

The arrest came months after the suspect, together with his brother Hassan Noor, were caught on camera terrorising residents of Kibokoni.

The two were captured in October 2023 attacking residents, where one person was left with serious machete injuries.

The incident had been reported at the same police station, but it took months for the main suspect to be apprehended.
