A police constable has been arrested in Homa Bay County for cutting his boss with a panga after they allegedly disagreed over a suspect who was arrested and detained.
The police officer attached to Pala Police Post in Ndhiwa Sub-County is accused of assaulting his boss identified as Koech Kimutai.
Kimutai, who is the head Pala Police Post was assaulted by his junior after they allegedly disagreed over a suspect who had been arrested.
It is reported that Kimutai realised a suspect who had been arrested and detained in their cell was missing.
He went to the constable’s house to enquire the whereabouts of the suspect but failed to get a convincing answer.
When he insisted on knowing more, the police constable allegedly took a sharp panga and pounced on him.
Kimutai reported that the officer intended to cut his head with the panga but he shielded himself using his right hand where he sustained a deep cut on his palm and bled profusely.
The officer was rushed to Pala Health Center where he was treated and discharged.
The constable was arrested and taken to Ndhiwa Police Station.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne says investigations have been launched into the matter.
