A police officer from Tembelio Police Post in Ainabkoi Sub-county, Uasin Gishu County, has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend and another man in a suspected love triangle.

According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi, the incident occurred around midnight at Kokwet Bar, a local pub in the Jua Kali area of Turbo, reportedly owned by the female victim.

Mwanthi said the officer confronted his girlfriend over suspicion of infidelity, and when the other man attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, the officer allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting both.

The county police boss noted that the officer used his official firearm in the incident, killing both victims on the spot.

Fellow officers who responded to the scene arrested and disarmed the suspect shortly after the shooting.

He is currently being held at a local police station in Eldoret as a probe commences.

The bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret.
