Police in Nakuru have launched a manhunt on a bootlegger who escaped arrest after detectives discovered fake alcohol he was trading in Nakuru’s Pipeline area.

In a statement, Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) says they discovered at least 120 cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks affixed with counterfeit KRA stamps.

The consignment with an estimated value of Ksh730,000 included 79 cartons of Spark vodka, 26 of Bob vodka, 17 of Best vodka, 1 carton of Boss vodka and 2 cartons full of assorted bottle caps were recovered.

“The value of the goods seized was estimated at Sh730,000 and the total tax lost Sh342,482,” part of the statement read.

The goods have so far been seized following a notice of seizure.

“Efforts to arrest the owner of the unlicensed business are currently ongoing. #FichuakwaDCI 0800 722 203,” DCI noted.
