Kenya Police Bullets Executive Chairman Munga Nyale is confident that his team has everything necessary to defend their Kenya Women Premier League (FKF-WPL) title as the 2024/2025 season kicks off on Saturday. Last season, the Police Bullets made history as debutants by ending Vihiga Queens’ dominance and clinching the title with a total of 49 points.
As the season begins, the law enforcement team will face Kisped Queens at the Police Sacco at 3:00 PM, and Munga believes they will secure a victory to start their title defense on a positive note.
“We understand it will be a tough match, but I believe the proper training my girls have had under their coach Beldine Odemba will work to our advantage. We have no doubt that the girls will defend their title this season as we aim to participate again in the Cecafa Club Championship like last season and qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
“We have some work to do to elevate the men’s team (Kenya Police FC) to where we want it to be, but for the girls, we are confident all will go well. I wish them all the best ahead of the season. We offer them our full support, so there’s no excuse for not performing well.”
In another match, four-time champions Vihiga Queens will kick off the season against Ulinzi Starlets at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. Coach Boniface Nyamuhnyamuh expressed optimism about the match, stating, “We must capitalize on our home advantage and secure a win. A victory in the first match of the season will motivate our players as we embark on the journey to reclaim the title from Police. This is very much possible if we keep our focus.”
Joseph Oyoo-coached Mombasa Olympics will host Wadadia at Ronald Ngala Primary, while Trinity Starlets will face off against Bungoma Queens at the ASK Showground in Nakuru. Meanwhile, Bungoma Queens will compete against Kibera Soccer Ladies at Bugoma National Polytechnic.
