Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu stumbled and fell on Wednesday as he boarded his ceremonial parade car at Eagle Square in Abuja during the Democracy Day celebrations.

The incident occurred as Tinubu appeared to miss a step while entering the vehicle designated for the ceremonial inspection of the parade. His security officers and aides quickly rushed to his aid, helping him to his feet.

A video clip showed the President unshaken by the fall, waving to the crowd and continuing with the day’s events, displaying resilience and composure. The President’s special assistant, Dada Olusegun, confirmed the incident, describing it as a minor mishap.

“Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues,” he wrote on his X page.

Democracy Day is a significant occasion in Nigeria, commemorating the restoration of democracy on June 12, 1993.
