President William Ruto is on Saturday expected to lead Kenyans in commemorating the 61st Madaraka Day celebrations in Bungoma County.

The event will be hosted at the Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma

Ruto is expected to arrive at the stadium by 9 am.

As early as 5 am, Kenyans poured into the stadium to secure their spots, and by mid-morning, the venue was filled to capacity.

Madaraka Day, observed annually on June 1st, commemorates the day in 1963 that Kenya attained internal self rule after being a British colony since 1920.
