President William Ruto, currently visiting the Western region of Kenya, will today attend an interdenominational prayer service in Bungoma. The event is set to take place at Amutala Stadium in the Kimilili constituency.

The service will be attended by several regional leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

President Ruto arrived in Bungoma on Thursday and has a busy schedule ahead, which includes commissioning various development projects across the region throughout the week.

Earlier in his visit, he led the nation in celebrating the 61st Madaraka Day at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi.

“Bado tuko area, tutakuwa hapa kesho na mkituchunga vizuri tutakuwa hapa kesho kutwa na mkituangalia vizuri tutakuwa hapa wiki mzima,” Ruto said Saturday.

Deputy President Rigathiu Gachagua is set to attend a holy mass at Timau Catholic Church in Buuri, Meru, where he will be joined by various politicians, particularly from the Mt. Kenya region.

During the event, discussions are expected to revolve around the ongoing debate over the ban on miraa. Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has reiterated his firm stance against muguka and drug abuse, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to combatting the use of muguka.

“We will not be enslaved to serve the interests of others as our own suffer. If this decision signals my political obituary then so be it; I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees,” he said.
