Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has dismissed Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai in a clash on social media over President Ruto’s performance.
The MCA, who is a staunch supporter of Ruto, shared photos of a local Primary School to back his claims that Ruto has delivered.
Alai appeared to have made his judgment that Ruto is performing based on the conditions of the buildings rather than the crisis in the education sector, with facilities stretched thin and many parents unable to take their children to school.
Salasya responded swiftly, noting that the country is literally in a crisis with many crucial sectors facing unprecedented challenges.
Salasya’s verdict
He cited the education funding crisis, unemployment in the country and the chaos in the healthcare to back his stand.
The lawmaker reminded the blogger that the focus of the president should be on how the economy is performing.

“A serious president should be beyond this mediocrity, a serious president should be focusing on how the economy is performing,” he stated.
He steered the conversation to areas where the president’s attention should be, hinting at the president having misplaced priorities at a time when his job is well-cut out.
“Millions of young people are done with colleges and universities and are still jobless, the health system in the entire country is so bad, and education funding is zero,” he added.
He concluded by reminding the blogger who has been attempting to defend Ruto’s record relay the information that the president is doing badly back to the Head of State.
“Tell the president that he is doing so badly,” Salasya stated, giving his verdict.
Opposition gangs up against Ruto
Ruto, who is eyeing a second term, has been facing an uphill task with the opposition poking holes into his record.
Notable challenges that he promised to solve still exist, with new ones adding up, and the opposition having a field day criticising his administration.

Notable ones include unemployment, challenges in the country’s healthcare, cost of education, and corruption, among others.
The united opposition has, over the last few days, camped in Kisii and Nyamira counties, with Ruto finding himself on the receiving end.
