Police in Likuyani constituency, Kakamega county, are investigating the death of a teacher said to be attached to Matunda Primary school in the area.

According to reports, the body of Mr. Mugera Lugado was discovered on Monday lying in a quarry in Lupele village, Soy area.

Residents who arrived at the scene said a motorbike, said to belong to the deceased, partly lay on the body.

Are sub chief Oliver Lukuyani confirmed the incident, adding that the body of the deceased was discovered by a resident who happened to be passing on the road.

The local administrator said he received a phone call around 7am informing him that a body of a man had been discovered in the quarry.

A cigarette was reportedly found in one of the socks worn by the deceased, raising many questions.

“The deceased had no known history of smoking cigarettes or taking alcohol,” noted Chief Lukuyani.

The body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret awaiting postmortem.

Police are investigating the incident in an attempt to find out what may have happened.
