Property Destroyed As Fire Breaks Out At Pumwani Maternity Hospital

Property of unknown value was destroyed Friday morning after a fire broke out at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi.

A statement from the Nairobi County Government indicated that the fire broke out at around 3:30 am at the commodity and pharmacy store.

The inferno was however put off by the Nairobi City County fire and rescue services team which arrived shortly  after the incident

Anastacia Nyalita, the County Executive in charge of Health, confirmed that no casualties were reported from the incident.

“The Nairobi City County fire and the rescue team responded in a record of 10 minutes and put out the fire . There were no casualties ,” she said .

Ms Nyalita also reported that a team from Nairobi County Tin collaboration with the police are assessing the damage as investigations continue to establish the cause.

Meanwhile, normal operations at the hospital resumed at around 5am.
