Principal Secretary for the State Department for Housing, Charles Hinga, has attributed his remarkable weight loss to President William Ruto.
Speaking at an event that was graced by the Head of State in Kikuyu Constituency on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the PS heaped praises on Ruto for the remarkable transformation of his body, revealing that he has since lost 35 kilograms in a period of just one year.
According to Hinga, Ruto pointed out that his weight was a problem that needed to be fixed from the onset.

He recounted their first meeting and how the president told him that while his ability to deliver was not in question, his weight needed to be addressed, marking a journey of transformation with every weight loss linked to Ruto.
“Your Excellency, when you appointed me as your Principal Secretary, having survived from the previous government, you told me, ‘I don’t doubt your capacity to work.’ But you looked at me and said, ‘Iko shida mahali lazima tufix.’ You said hiyo kilo yako ni mingi sana,” Hinga said.
“You told me hiyo kilo nitapunguza, so I thought you were joking,” Hinga stated, revealing that he initially thought that the president was joking but later on learnt that he was serious.
Hinga celebrates losing 35Kgs
According to the CS, the weight saw him become the target of online body-shaming as political temperatures soared.
“Your Excellency, one year ago, I was 121 kg, and these Kenyans tulikuwa tunapigana kule mtandaoni. Whenever I gave them some nice points, and they didn’t have a comeback, they would tell me to un-fat,” he added.
Hinga proudly shared that in a span of just one year, he has managed to lose 35 kilograms, revealing that a year ago, his weight stood at 121 kilograms.
“Your excellency, I am delighted today that I am 35Kgs lighter, and o those who doubt you when you say that you are going to achieve something, I think they should not take you for granted,” Hinga added.
