The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that moderate to heavy rainfall will continue in various parts of the country until Wednesday.
On Sunday, the Met Department stated that rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and Northwestern Kenya. The affected counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet. Others are Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
These regions are likely to experience rain showers and thunderstorms in some areas until Wednesday, July 10. In Northwestern Kenya, residents are expected to experience rain in a few places until Wednesday.
Additionally, intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley can expect cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals until Wednesday, with showers occurring in a few places at night. Affected counties include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.
The weatherman also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) over some parts of the Coast and Northeastern Kenya. The coastal region, including Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, should expect sunny intervals until Tuesday, with possible showers in a few places on Wednesday.
