The officials for the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup match between Kakamega Homeboyz and Al Hilal from Libya have been announced.

The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 19, at Nyayo Stadium starting at 3:00 PM.

Leading the officiating team will be William Oloya, who has been designated as the center referee.

Assisting Oloya on the sidelines will be Isa Masembe and Emmanuel Okudra, serving as the first and second assistants respectively.

Ugandan official Mashood Ssali has been assigned the role of fourth official for the game. Meanwhile, Luleseged Begashaw from Ethiopia will assume the responsibilities of the match commissioner.

Kakamega Homeboyz earned their place in this prestigious tournament after securing a historic victory in the 2023 Football Kenya Federation Cup.

In a thrilling showdown that took place on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani Stadium, they managed to defeat strong contenders Tusker with a score of 1-0.

The crucial goal that sealed this triumph was scored by Kevin Amwayi in the second half, marking Homeboyz’s inaugural major title win.

Kakamega Homeboyz next opponent

If they manage to progress beyond the initial round, Kakamega Homeboyz will be gearing up to face another challenge, this time against Rayon Sports from Rwanda.

In preparation for the upcoming encounter, Homeboyz engaged in a tour to Uganda, where they engaged in a build-up match against KCCA, unfortunately losing with a score of 2-0.

In a recent fixture, Kakamega Homeboyz participated in the Charity Shield Cup against league champions Gor Mahia FC. The match took place at Nyayo Stadium, and Gor Mahia FC emerged victorious after a post-match penalty shootout, resulting in a 4-2 win following a 1-1 draw during regulation time.

“We are ready to make our bow in the competition, it is what we have been waiting for since we won the FKF Cup to earn the slot, even my players have been asking me when will this day (to play Al Hilal) arrive and now it is just two days away before we parade for Kenya in the continental stage,” Odhiambo told People Sports.
