Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested two suspected drug traffickers in Nairobi’s Donholm area.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspects in a statement on social media platform X on Sunday as Kenyan Teresia Nduku and Tanzanian Simba Kitwana Khamri. Both were found with high-value cannabis, believed to have been smuggled into the country.
Following their arrest, the suspects guided detectives to their residence in Manyanzani, Tala, Kangundo Sub-County. A search at the location revealed a backpack with a hidden compartment containing cannabis sativa, a digital scale, and several incriminating documents.
“This is a unique strain of cannabis sativa that originated from abroad and entered Kenya through the Namanga border,” stated the DCI in their Sunday update.
The Tanzanian suspect, described by detectives as a “maestro in skillful packaging and disguising the illicit drug in backpacks,” is suspected of preparing the drugs for international distribution. Investigators estimate the street value of the seized cannabis at Ksh. 8,000 per gram.
“Further analysis will be conducted to understand its distinctiveness,” the statement continued.
The suspects remain in custody as they await their arraignment.
