Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei was clearly moved when President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto made a joint appearance at the Rhema Feast in Nairobi on Friday, September 4, sharing footage of the moment that has since gone viral.
The Rhema Feast is a major annual Christian gathering founded by Reverend Julian Kyula, centred on worship, prayer and spiritual reflection.
The final day of this year’s edition pulled in a large crowd at Uhuru Park, with many attendees carrying Kenyan flags as worship stretched into the evening hours.

The clip captures the presidential couple walking up to the stage hand in hand, greeted by a breathtaking sea of phone flashlights from thousands of worshippers gathered at Uhuru Park.
The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd’s lights turning the outdoor night venue into a glittering spectacle.
A formal indoor group photo followed, rounding off what Emmy described as a deeply moving occasion.
“Blessed is a nation whose God is the Lord! God bless our presidency. Blessings over Kenya. This is beautiful,” the celebrated singer wrote in her caption.
Despite the celebratory and devotional atmosphere, the president’s arrival was not without controversy. Influencer Trudy Kitui also captured footage of sections of the crowd chanting “wantam” as Ruto stepped on stage.
The slogan has become closely associated with opposition calls for the president to serve only a single term, reflecting the political tension surrounding the 2027 General Election.
