Nairobi News has established that Mr Githieya who was found in a river in Kabete on April 30, 2023.

On the evening of Tuesday, May 9, 2023, locals, family and friends of the late Githieya held a vigil at the home of the deceased’s father in Mwimuto village within Gituamba in Kabete, Kiambu County.

Following his death, a police source told Nairobi News that the deceased was the son of a local politician.

Locals in Kabete said the body was seen by people passing near the river and they decided to retrieve it from the water.

“We were then shocked to see that he was a person we know so well as he was very active during the last elections,” said Mr Benjamin Kioko, a local.

Another local, Ms Nelson Kimani, said that when they removed the body from the river, there were no physical injuries.
