Mwai Kibaki Junior, the grandson of the late Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, is in mourning as he bids farewell to his beloved grandfather, Alfred Vienna.

Alfred Vienna passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

Alfred died at the age of 84 years.

An obituary Mwai shared on his Instagram page captures the essence of Alfred’s life.

He is remembered as a devoted husband, a beloved father, and a dear friend.

His presence touched the lives of many, enriching them with his kindness, wisdom, and warmth.

Alfred Vienna was the loving husband of the late Eileen Vienna and a caring father to Alistair and Sherly.

He held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren: Sean Andrew, Mwai, Ngema Allan, and Suzanna.

“His departure leaves an emptiness that words struggles to fill,” the obituary partly read.

His influence and affection will forever be etched in their lives.

A requiem mass to honor Alfred’s memory is scheduled today, August 29, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church on Lang’ata South Road in Nairobi.

The mass will be followed by a cremation ceremony at the Kariokor Hindu Crematorium at 2 pm.

In a recent interview with Nairobi News, Sean Andrew highly spoke about his grandparents’ profound impact on him.

During a recent interview with Nairobi News, Sean Andrew expressed admiration and gratitude for his grandparents, considering them as his ultimate role models.

He spoke fondly of the late President Mwai Kibaki and highlighted the need for current leaders to emulate his example in fostering unity and cooperation during challenging times.

“We not only miss him but the entire country [does too], and I think some leaders today should look at him as an example and find ways to work together and navigate these hard times,” Sean said.

Former first lady Lucy Kibaki passed away on April 26, 2016, while former President Mwai Kibaki passed away in April 2022.
