Police officers in Ruiru are investigating the circumstances under which a matatu tout working with Lopha Travels, which plies the Nairobi CBD – Ruiru route, met his death.

Nahashon Ng’ang’a succumbed to injuries he sustained in a mysterious accident a night after he allegedly differed with his driver over cash.

Ng’ang’a, who died on Wednesday at the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, was saved by Good Samaritans after he was found on Thika Super highway having allegedly been pushed out of a moving matatu.

Daniel Waweru, the deceased’s brother, said: “My brother had a commotion with the driver whom they were working with on Saturday night and then the commotion extended to the following morning that was on Sunday which nobody knows how it ended.”

Waweru stated that his brother sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the K.U hospital where he was admitted in the ICU until Wednesday afternoon when he succumbed to his injuries.

“We do not have the evidence to clarify whether he was pushed, or whether he was kicked out or he jumped on his own or whether he was knocked down by a vehicle,” he added.

Ruiru Police Commander Alex Shikondi clarified that the vehicle caught on social media was the one that rescued and rushed the victim to hospital, adding that they had commenced investigations into the case.

“We have no any eye witness who witnessed the accident, but we have opened the file and we are urging the members of the public who might have witnessed the accident to come up and record statements,” he said.

A post-mortem exercise is expected to be conducted on Friday to determine the cause of death as family plans for burial next week.
