The Kenya Kwanza is on course to achieve the construction of 250,000 affordable housing units annually.

To this effect, President William Ruto on Friday announced that 178 out of 290 subcounties have been the green light to construct the units.

“I want to tell Kenyans that we are on course in our plan for the affordable housing with 178 subcounties being given a green light, ” he said.

Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga explained to the president that all 290 constituencies have land available for the affordable housing programme.

“However before constructions, we have to go to the ground and asses the land to identify whether they are fit for the programme,” he said.

Out of the 178, 29 subcounties are awaiting the groundbreaking ceremony.
