President William Ruto has appointed David Oginde as the Ethics and Anti Corruption (EACC) chairperson.

Until his appointed Oginde served as the presiding Bishop at the Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM).

Through a gazette notice, the President announced Bishop Oginde will serve in office for six years, taking over from Archbishop Eliud Wabukala who retired early this year.

Bishop Oginde was among 14 applicants shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the position.

During the interview, the list was reduced to three, including the Bishop, former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, and Amani Komara.

The EACC’s incoming boss is known for peace preaching and was in the limelight during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate which was later quashed by the courts.

Bishop Oginde is on record calling for politicians to put their political differences aside and preach peace, saying the politics of hustler and reggae were not good for the country.

He also prophesied that before the last election, it would not be a surprise to see former Prime Minister Raila Odinga working closely with President Ruto.

“I want to prophesy that it won’t be a surprise before 2020 that Dr William Ruto and Honourable Raila Odinga will be on the same side,” Bishop Oginde said, which is not the case since the two individuals being referred are engaged in political differences at the moment.

All eyes are now on him as he led a commission that has been on the news for years in its role of fighting corruption and restoring public property that has been grabbed.

At the same time, the President has appointed Mr Martin Otieno Ogindo as the chairperson of the Kenya Fish Marketing Authority for three years.

His appointment comes after a parliamentary committee approved his appointment.

The former Rangwe MP will now be in charge of the influential authority that is marketing fish products.
