President William Ruto has reiterated his government’s commitment to job creation by establishing Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) hubs nationwide. Speaking in Kilgoris, Narok County, on Sunday, August 4, 2024, Ruto announced that he had signed changes to the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) Act into law.

These changes will facilitate the creation of ICT hubs, thereby generating jobs for the youth.

“Mimi nimebadislisha sheria ya CDF na sasa itawezesha wabunge kujenga ICT hubs ndio hawa ma Gen Z, hawa vijana waweze kufanya kazi ya ajira ya kupitia digital jobs,” Ruto said.

He also stressed that the ongoing Affordable Housing programme will enable low-income earners to own houses through a pocket-friendly policy.

“Unalipa three thousand, and after 15 or 20 years, hio nyumba inakuwa yako.

Tuko na nyumba tena ya shilingi elfu tano, tuko na ingine ya elfu saba, ingine ya elfu kumi na ingine ya fifteen thousand,” the Head of State explained.
He also promised to continue with the programme of building modern markets across Narok County.

“Tunataka kujenga modern market,” he said.

After he recently nominated Cabinet Secretaries, including members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Ruto asked the leaders to come together and work for the citizens.

“So, mimi nawauliza sasa viongozi, sisi kama viongozi wa Kenya tuungane hili tuweze kufanyia kazi hawa wananchi. Na tupange ajira ya vijana wetu hawa,” he concluded.

His CS nominees have been undergoing vetting by parliament before they are sworn in to start their duties if approved.
