The tragic incidents of suicide across various regions in Kenya have raised concerns about mental health and well-being.
At Kenya High School, 32-year-old teacher Douglas Mogaka was found dead, having hanged himself from a tank ladder. Authorities reported that no suicide note was recovered, and the motive for his actions remains unclear. His colleagues and students remembered him as a dedicated teacher, emphasizing the shock and sadness surrounding his death.
In separate incidents, five additional suicide cases were reported throughout the country. In Nkubu Township, Meru County, a 28-year-old man named Dominic Mutura was discovered hanging from a door frame with a sisal rope. A suicide note was found at the scene, although its contents have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, in Giachera Village, Nyeri County, a 39-year-old man, Solomon Warui, was found hanging from a macadamia tree. Preliminary investigations indicated he had been suffering from mental illness, but no suicide note was recovered.
In Nandi County, 27-year-old Laban Kimutai allegedly jumped into a dam. Witnesses reported seeing him walk towards the fenced area before submerging completely. No suicide note was found, and the motive is still under investigation.
Another case involved a 35-year-old man found hanging from the rafters in his mother’s home in Uvaini village, Machakos County. No suicide note was recovered, and investigations are ongoing.
