Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced that the county is in the process of naming a street in the city after Friends Church Quakers.
Speaking during a church service in Donholm, the governor said the assembly has passed the physical addressing street naming process.
“I was not joking, that one we will do, the Quaker road, through the laid down process,” he said.
Sakaja further poked holes on Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli, whose signpost, was erected in Kileleshwa, renaming the road to that of Atwoli’s.
The signage was surrounded by drama, as youths removed it overnight, while others set it ablaze, and it would late be returned.
“I will return the Atwoli’s road signpost to the assembly so that it can be returned to that road,” Sakaja said.
The road in Kileleshwa, near Kenya High School, was formerly called Dik Dik Road.
Atwoli said it was in honour of his service to Kenyan workers, that the signpost was put up.
“I want to thank the leadership of Nairobi County, under Ann Kananu (former governor), for this great honour and recognition of services to the Government of the day, the community and Worker’s at large,” Atwoli said then.
