Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has opened up about his thoughts on love and marriage, admitting that many men in their early 30s, including himself, are struggling to fully embrace romantic relationships.
In a candid statement shared on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Salasya said that while love is real, many men today behave as if it does not exist.
He questioned why many other men seem to have refused to fall in love, choosing instead to focus on other commitments that may not necessarily bring lasting fulfilment.
“Love is blind, love is real, but I don’t know why people like me and 1million other men and me have refused to fall in love nowadays. We just behave as if love never existed,” Salasya said.
The outspoken legislator noted that uncertainty is a major challenge, explaining that many men do not clearly understand what they want when it comes to marriage.

According to him, this confusion has contributed to delayed marriages among men in their 30s.
“Let us pray for the spirit of love to descend again on us we men who are in our early thirties na hatujaoa because hatujielewi on what exactly we want on marriage issues,”he added.
Salasya also raised the possibility that fear could be playing a role, wondering whether men are afraid of the responsibilities and changes that come with marriage.
“We are just committed to other things for nothing sijui tunaogopa kukaziwa tukioa ama nini sijielewi,” Salasya stated.
Quest for a wife
He has never shied away from making controversial remarks about relationships. In the past, he declared that he dislikes dating virgins, saying he would rather not take on the responsibility of being the first.
“When I realise she is a virgin, I will allow her to go have another man to break her virginity and come back to me. I hate to labour to break a woman for another man hehe…though sisi vienyeji we are better at breaking virgins than born town who are very weak on the bed,” he stated.

Earlier this year, Salasya revealed that he had made lifestyle changes to improve his chances of finding a wife. He said he had been advised to quit alcohol if he was serious about settling down, and he confirmed that he now drinks only soft beverages and ensures he gets home before nightfall.
“I was told if I really want to get married, I must stop drinking. Nowadays, I just take soda and I reach home early,” he explained in a lighthearted Instagram video.
Salasya has also been outspoken on his views about drugs and alcohol. In December 2024, he argued that marijuana users were more peaceful than alcohol drinkers and suggested that weed should be legalised while alcohol should be banned.
“People who take weed do not cause more problems than those who take alcohol. Weed can be legalised, but alcohol can be banned. Watu wanakunywa pombe hupenda kelele sana than wa bangi,” he said.
