Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has laid bare his long-term family vision, saying he intends to embrace polygamy and build a large household.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, April 12, 2026, celebrating the birth of his daughter, Salasya said he envisions having at least 12 children and marrying between three and five wives.

“She is now 5 weeks old. The desire of my heart is to have at least 12 children and at least three wives to 5 wives,” he wrote.

The outspoken legislator, who has often made headlines for his personal remarks, described himself as “a polygamous man naturally.”

This comes against the backdrop of earlier reflections where he admitted that while his intentions are firm, the journey to finding partners has not been easy.

Polygamy family vision

Salasya has consistently linked his outlook on marriage to cultural values within his Wanga community, saying he hopes to build a structured, united family.

In his own words, he has previously said he wants his wives to coexist under one roof and function as one household.

“I am a polygamous man naturally,” he stated, while adding that his desire is to raise a large family with at least 12 children.

In earlier interviews, he revealed that a relationship he once had ended after he lost his first parliamentary bid in 2017. The breakup, he said, came at a difficult time and left him reflecting on the kind of partner he would want in future.

Since entering Parliament in 2022, Salasya has continued to speak about his desire to settle down. At one point, he even publicly asked Ida Odinga, Raila Odinga’s wife, to help him find a good wife.

Despite his confidence in his long-term plan, Salasya has also admitted that reality is more complicated than intention.

In an Instagram post shared earlier, he revealed that approaching potential partners has been more difficult than he expected.

“I will marry 4 wives lakini inafaa kwa hawa wanne nipate muwanga mmoja,” he wrote.

Salasya shared his dilemma, admitting that while his ambitions for polygamy are high, his own shyness and busy schedule have slowed down the process.
