The search for the bodies of three gold miners feared dead at Kurutyange mines in Migori County is underway as families of the deceased blame the County and National government.
The miners were prospecting gold on Thursday last week when they allegedly drowned after the water pumping system failed.
Kuria West sub-county Deputy County commissioner Andrew Mwiti said four miners were trapped, and they have so far retrieved one body.
The families of the missing miners have blamed the government for failure to respond on time.
Simon Mwita said they have been on their own for the past four days. She said they have only got a generator from the county government which is not even effective in the pumping of water.
His remarks were echoed by Manuel Matiko, who said they have decided to hire generators and buy fuel to facilitate pumping of the water.
Currently, the miners searching for their missing colleagues have expressed optimism that they will retrieve their bodies in due course.
