A security guard was killed during an early-morning robbery at a liquor store in Kahawa West, Nairobi, where criminals made away with goods valued at approximately KSh 2.5 million.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 4 a.m. when the assailants broke into the premises, vandalised the store’s CCTV system and proceeded to loot the establishment.

Kasarani police officers have since launched investigations into the attack.

Store owner Nicholas Mwongera said he was alerted by neighbours at about 7 a.m. and immediately reported the matter to the Kahawa West Police Station.

Residents have expressed growing concern over rising insecurity in the area.

They attributed the surge in criminal activities to a prolonged power outage, claiming that Kenya Power removed a transformer for repair three weeks ago and has yet to replace it, leaving the neighbourhood in total darkness.

Locals are calling on authorities to act swiftly to restore security and prevent further incidents.
