The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is actively seeking to recover over Sh615 million in suspected corruptly acquired assets from John Koveti Lumula, the Head of Cleaning Services at Kakamega County Government. This includes a private school valued at Sh200 million.
Last week, EACC officials conducted raids on the homes and offices of various public officials, including Lumula, as part of a broader initiative to combat unexplained wealth believed to have been amassed through the embezzlement of public funds.
EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed that the investigation into Lumula’s assets is focused on suspected proceeds from theft. It is believed that his wealth may have been accumulated through kickbacks received from suppliers and contractors during his tenure in the Procurement Department before his transfer to his current role.
Among the assets under scrutiny is West Bridge Elite School, located in Eregi, which is operated by Lumula’s spouse, Roseline Khadambi Khovoshi. The anti-graft agency is pursuing measures to forfeit these suspected illicit gains as part of its ongoing efforts to combat corruption.
