Strathmore Blades head coach Tony Ochieng has stated that he is devising a new game plan to assist the students in securing a victory in Game Two of the Kenya National Basketball Men’s Premier League playoffs.

This victory would propel them into the semi-finals of the ongoing end-of-season playoffs.

Following their impressive 82-51 win over USIU Tigers in Game One last weekend, the Blades are in a favorable position to advance to the semi-finals. Coach Ochieng is determined to maintain their momentum and ensure they secure another victory in Game Two.

“We want to cut off their offense and maintain our defence. We want to play big in terms of rebounding both offensively and defensively and minimize our turnovers. We also want to improve on our shooting and defence as well as work more on mentality,” said Ochieng.
Ochieng also admitted it will be a tough match against USIU, who will be on a revenge mission to push the game to Game Three by winning Saturday’s match.

“Our opponents are very good, they are very quick, good at execution. It is our wish to win Game Two on Saturday so that we avoid Game Three on Sunday. We are all prepared, I have one injury that of Jayson Nwodo who won’t be available this weekend.”

On the other hand, USIU Tigers head coach David Maina is determined to disrupt Strathmore’s momentum and revive their chances of advancing to the semi-finals.

Maina emphasized the importance of Game Two for his team, stating that they have made significant adjustments and preparations to rectify their mistakes from Game One.

“It’s a must-win game for us on Saturday. Our preparations so far have been good. We identified the mistakes from Game One and have made adjustments. I hope the players will show up for the game, and we will have a better performance,” said Maina.

The winner between Strathmore Blades and USIU Tigers after the three matches will face defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the semi-final playoffs.

Ochieng acknowledged the challenge posed by USIU Tigers, who are seeking revenge and aiming to extend the series to Game Three by winning Saturday’s match.
