Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has claimed the finance bill has not undergone proper public precipitation across the country and exemplified the bill as some form of dictatorship by the government.
During Citizen TV daybreak show on Monday, Maanzo said there is need for the involvement of financial experts and seeking public opinion across the country before presenting the bill in parliament.
“You need to visit the whole country, you need to get as many ideas as possible, you need even a team of experts as part of that public participation,” he said.
Interjecting Maanzo, the majority whip of the National Assembly Sylvanus Osoro said there is room for amendment after the bill is presented in the house.
According to Osoro, the finance bill is a well-planned idea and concerns raised by different stakeholders will be considered in amending the bill as part of public participation.
“We are still collecting views from all stakeholders; it is not really casting stone that you know will not amend some proposals that have been raised by different stakeholders, we will amend,” he said.
Osoro further stated that he would convince other members of parliament to pass the bill affirming that it is part of his duty to mobilize other members to reason with government.
“It is my responsibility to convince the members of parliament to agree with me so that they pass the bill,” he said.
