The search launched four days ago for Julius Tanui, 48, a senior official in the National Youth Service (NYS), has ended after he was found dead in his home.

Tanui’s body was found in his home by relatives and friends who told police they had been unable to reach him by phone.

He was a chief inspector based at the NYS headquarters on the busy Thika Super Highway.

His friends and colleagues took to social media to mourn his death, describing him as a very understanding man.

“Happy anniversary to me as I complete my second year as a trainee at NYS, but once again I mourn the passing of my recruit officer Afande Julius Tanui. Rest in peace,” said Mr Jeremy Dipo.

Another colleague known as Mitei Manu also mourned Mr Tanui, saying he will forever remain in the hearts of many.

“All the legends of 2017/2018, let us pay our last respects to Afande Julius Tanui in Nandi County, Aldai Ward. RIP sir, you will remain in our hearts,” Mitei said.

Nairobi News understands that his colleagues had to break down the door to his house where they found his body. It was lying on the bed.

The main cause of his death is yet to be established, but police said there were no visible injuries on his body.

This comes just a week after a senior National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer was found dead in his home.

It later emerged that he had died by suicide and had been battling depression for some time.

A police report filed at Kilimani police station said Tom Adala, 54, had left a suicide note.

According to the report, Adala shot himself from the right side of the head with his Glock pistol, with the bullet exiting through the left side.

Meanwhile, a family in the Kiamumbi area of Kahawa West refused to speak to the media about the death of their relative whose body was found next to a bar.

The body was found by locals who immediately alerted the police.
