Napoli sporting director, Mauro Meluso has stated that keeping Victor Osimhen at the club would be a significant achievement for him.

Meluso is new at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona having replaced Cristiano Guintoli as Napoli’s sporting director last week.

Guintoli recently dumped the Serie A champions to take up similar role at Juventus.

Osimhen played a key role in Napoli’s Scudetto success last season.

The 24-year-old netted 26 times to claim the Serie A top scorer award.

The Nigerian has been a subject of interest from European top guns including Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich.

Meluso is, however, determined to keep the striker at the club.

“I’ve just arrived, and I understand that retaining Osimhen would be a significant achievement,” Meluso was quoted by Tutto Napoli.

“He brings a unique dimension to the team, and players like him are few and far between.”
