Police in Naivasha, Nakuru County, on Sunday arrested seven people linked to a string of robberies around Naivasha town.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Patrick Handi, 45, David Muchina, 34, Grace Wanjiru, 33, Erick Kabiru, 32, Hassan Jamal, 32, Christopher Kimani, 30, and Ronny Muturi, 30, were intercepted in Naivasha town.

They were riding a grey Mazda Demio, and the officers, acting on a tip-off, also recovered a pistol from the suspected robbers.

“Upon a quick search, their weapon of choice, a sneaky Retay Falcon Pistol, was recovered concealed under the rear back left seat. Although the pistol is designed not to fire live rounds and to be as harmless as a toy, it was the gang’s secret weapon,” DCI said.

The seven were taken into custody awaiting arraignment.
