Police in Mukaa, Makueni County, have launched investigations into a gruesome incident in which a middle-aged man allegedly killed his father-in-law and seriously injured his estranged wife in Kiou area, Wathini sub-location.
Confirming the incident, Mukaa deputy county commissioner Buxton Mayabi said the suspect, who had separated from his wife, followed her to her home armed with a machete.
He reportedly attacked her, inflicting multiple injuries. When her father attempted to intervene, the suspect turned on him, fatally assaulting him.
The father-in-law was rushed to Sultan Hamud Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The woman is currently receiving treatment at the same facility and is reported to be in stable condition.
According to DCC Mayambi, the suspect fled the scene after the attack but later surrendered to police at Sultan Hamud Police Station, where he is currently in custody.
Mayambi urged residents to resolve family and domestic disputes through dialogue and peaceful means, warning against resorting to violence.
The body of the deceased has been moved to the Sultan Hamud Hospital morgue as investigations continue.
