Police are holding a man after he stabbed his wife to death in Kirinyaga County.
Mwea West police boss Rashid Ali said that the suspect, John Mugendi, is being held at Kiamaciri police station over the death of Catherine Wanjiku.
The suspect was spotted looking for his wife while armed with a hammer. He accused her of having an extra-marital affair.
Residents led by Obadiah Gatimu said that the suspect, a bodaboda operator based in Kagio town, stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife.
“He told us that his wife was having an affair only for him to kill her moments later,” Gatimu said.
An agitated Mugendi was spotted looking for his wife while armed with a hammer.
Wanja Mwangi, mother to the deceased, said that her daughter had three children and has lived with her husband for over 14 years.
“I could not believe it when I saw my daughter lying in a pool of blood,” a distraught Mwangi said
The suspect, who was seriously injured by irate locals will be taken to hospital before being taken to the court.
“We have taken the body of the deceased to Kerugoya as we await a postmortem report,” police said.
