A family in Siaya wants the government to offer them financial support to enable them to travel to Malindi so as to follow up on their missing daughter who fellowshipped at Pastor Mackenzie’s Good News International Church.

The family of 24-year-old Linda Adhiambo is now stranded as they are unable to travel to Malindi to follow up on her case.

According to Rose Awino and Jacob Omondi, their daughter went missing close to one year ago.

Awino and Omondi are now stranded as they are unable to travel to Malindi to check whether she could still be alive or among the over 110 bodies which were exhumed from the Shakahola forest graves.

While recounting her last moments with the daughter, Awino who spoke to journalists at her home in Komenya Rabar stated that Linda communicated to them last in September 2022 informing them to forget about her and that she had gone for prayers in the wilderness and was not going to return to this world.

She says that they took the matter lightly until recently when the issue of the Shakahola massacre erupted and Pastor Mackenzie linked to the mass killings of his worshipers through extreme doctrines

“Though we were at pains when she called and informed us that she was going to join Mackenzie for prayers and fasting till she dies but we did not take her words seriously,” said Awino.

Awino stated that they have since reported their case to the local police stations in Siaya and registered their concerns with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) but are yet to get proper communication.
Reports in Siaya Police Station

Despite recording statements over her disappearance at Siaya Police Station, no news or proper communication has come out of the station.

Linda’s father Jacob Omondi stated that their fear is that families whose members could be missing are already in Malindi to conduct DNA tests but for them, they have no means of travelling to that place.

“We have not been in Malindi and up to now we have not been able to raise fare that’s why we are appealing for support from the government and well-wishers,” he said.

Linda’s grandmother Eunice Sindala has appealed for government support to enable them to travel to Malindi to check whether Linda who went to Mackenzie’s church together with her husband and three children could be among the exhumed bodies.
