Police in Gem Wagai sub-county have launched an investigation into the death of 78-year-old Bartholomew Obita Odera, whose body was found in a murram quarry in the Wagwer area of Ulamba sub-location, North West Gem. Villagers discovered the naked body on Monday evening, raising suspicions of foul play.

Area Assistant Chief Fredrick Warinda suggested that Odera might have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the quarry. The incident was reported to Wagai police station, and officers quickly responded by visiting the scene.

The body has been transported to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation, and a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Chief Warinda confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the elderly man’s death.
