Kisii Governor Simba Arati has nominated Elijah Obebo to the position of Deputy Governor, following the removal of Robert Monda from office.
In an announcement made by Kisii County Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba on Wednesday, Arati picked Obebo to be his deputy upon approval by the Assembly.
Obebo had been serving as the public service board chair in the County.
The appointment comes a week after Monda was impeached by the Senate for gross misconduct and corruption. This was after the Kisii County Assembly approved his removal from office.
The Senate found the former Nyaribari Chache MP guilty of all the offences levelled against him.
Monda has since moved to court to overturn the impeachment, which he claimed was a witch-hunt from Arati’s camp.
Monda was being supported by National Assembly Chief Whip and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka, but this did not save him from losing the seat.
