Renowned gospel singer Kambua has shared a deeply emotional and heartfelt story about her late father, Professor Manundu.
In a candid and touching video on her YouTube channel, Kambua spoke lovingly about her father and revealed that her greatest wish was to have him by her side on her special day.
“I will never forget that he did that for me,” Kambua said as she recounted the moment her father, who had been unwell, walked her down the aisle on her wedding day.

Kambua recalled how her father’s health had been a source of concern since her high school years, but he had always shown immense strength in overcoming various health challenges.
“Through my high school times, my dad had begun to struggle with his health, but he always overcame and everything that came, he overcame it,” Kambua shared.
However, the most challenging period came when Kambua returned home from Canada to find her father in a condition she had never seen before.
He had been given a prognosis of only five months to live, which coincided with the Christmas season.
“I remember seeing my father in a state that I had never seen him in before, and he had been the strongest,” Kambua recalled.
Despite her father’s health issues, Kambua cherished the special bond they shared.
She described him as her world, her friend, and her confidant.
Whenever she faced challenges, she knew she could count on her father for support and guidance.
Kambua fondly remembered the few instances when they had disagreed, including a memorable moment in her childhood when her father asked her to search for a lost geometry set, leading to her receiving a rare slap from him.
Later in life, they had differences of opinion over someone Kambua liked, but her father believed was not suitable for her.
“Later in life, we rubbed shoulders over someone I liked and he didn’t and I insisted but he said that was not a good person for me.”
When her father’s health took a critical turn, Kambua felt a deep sense of fear and uncertainty.
She revealed that she had temporarily set aside her dreams, fearing that going back to school might mean she would never see her father again.
However, life took an unexpected turn, and Kambua’s career began to flourish.
She also met the man who would later become her husband, Jackson Mathu.
One of her dreams was for her father to walk her down the aisle, a moment she thought she might never experience.
In 2012, despite his health struggles, Kambua’s father fulfilled her dream.
On the morning of her wedding, with traditional songs filling the air, Kambua’s father initially remained in his room.
The timekeeper urged them to proceed, but Kambua stood firm, refusing to move until her father joined her.
“He struggled so much and I remember the morning of my wedding, mamas had come to sing and my dad was in his room and he did not come out of the room and at some point they were asked to stop singing and the time keeper started rushing us but I refused to go until my dad comes out.”
With immense effort, her father emerged from his room, gave his blessings, and walked Kambua down the aisle. It was a deeply moving moment that Kambua will cherish forever.
“We gave him his time and eventually he came out and gave me his blessings and he walked me down the aisle. I will never forget that he did that for me.”
