Six people convicted of murdering the late Juja MP George Thuo will be sentenced today by High Court judge Roselyn Korir at 11 am. Last month, Thuo’s widow, Judy Thuo, urged the court to ensure justice is served, emphasizing that her husband’s death was not natural and that the crime should not go unpunished.
“I know there is forgiveness and I know this is a just court… but it is the life and blood of a human being. It shouldn’t be that somebody can kill someone and be set free,” Judy stated to Justice Korir.
On April 19, Judge Korir convicted Club owner Paul Wainaina Boiyo, alias Sheki, Thuo’s aide Christopher Lumbazio Andika, alias Lumba, DJs Andrew Karanja Wainaina and Samuel Kuria Ngugi, alias Visi, waiter Esther Ndinda Mulinge, and patron Ruth Watahi Irungu, alias Atlanta, for the murder that occurred at Porkies Club nine years ago.
Korir concluded that the prosecution had proven its case against the six, noting that the evidence presented was sufficient and not merely based on suspicion. She concurred with medical reports indicating that Thuo’s cause of death was hemorrhagic gastroenteritis due to poisoning.
