The six Iranian nationals arrested for trafficking narcotic drugs valued at Ksh.8 billion were presented in court on Monday.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions( DPP) said that Jasem Darzadeh Nia, Nadeem Jadgal, Imran Baloch, Hassan Baloch, Rahim Baksh, and Imtiyaz Daryayi appeared at the ShanzuLaw Courts.

The six were arrested on October 24, 2025, at Kilindini Port during a multi-agency operation that led to the discovery of 769 packages of crystalline substances suspected to be synthetic narcotic drugs. Kenyan authorities have given conflicting figures on the weight of the methamphetamine.

The intelligence was shared by the Kenya Navy after a suspicious “dark vessel” was seen operating in the Indian Ocean without proper identification.

The prosecution has requested more time from the court to verify the credentials of the court interpreter, asking for an independent interpreter to ensure accurate and unbiased court proceedings.

The suspects were ordered to remain in custody at the Port police station, awaiting further instructions on Tuesday, October 28.

DCI Director Mohammed Amin and Kenya Navy Deputy Commander Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa confirmed that the boat was tracked some 630 kilometres east of Mombasa before being escorted to the port, where the seized substance tested positive for narcotics.
