The late Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were will be laid to rest on Friday next week at his rural home in Homa Bay County.

This has been announced the chairperson of the funeral planning committee, Peter Kaluma, who said the body of the slain lawmaker will be flown to the Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay on Thursday where the public will be accorded an opportunity to view it.

Kaluma, who is the Homa Bay Town MP, said the committee has also planned for a requiem mass in Nairobi on Wednesday.

He revealed that they are expecting many people in Kasipul to attend the MP’s send-off, including dignitaries from across the political divide.

Currently, leaders are trooping to the late legislator’s residence in Karen to assist the family in planning and coordinating the burial process.

The late MP was gunned down by unknown assailants at the City Mortuary roundabout along Ngong’ road on Wednesday evening.

Detectives believe they are making progress in zeroing in on the suspects linked to the murder of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP even as an autopsy is slated for Monday next week.
