Sofapaka head coach David Ouma has vowed to sharpen his side’s striking department in readiness for their next FKF Premier League game against Bidco United on Saturday.
Sofapaka have not won a single game since March 16 when they hammered Kakamega Homeboyz 3-1, dropping points against Gor Mahia, Ulinzi Stars, Tusker and Talanta.
Batoto Ba Mungu missed three clear chances against FC Talanta on Monday as the two sides settled for a one-all draw in the FKF-PL match at Kasarani Annex Stadium.
“Today, my striking did not concentrate at the near post but we will go and sharpen that in the training (ahead of the Bidco United showdown match on Saturday),” Ouma said.
Ouma added he is proud of his youngsters whom he says have really improved and will be helpful going forward.
“I think it’s just the orientation around the penalty box that I have continued to improve on but for the young boys that I have thrown in the match I want to say I’m really proud of them”, Ouma added.
His counterpart Ken Kenyatta wants his Talanta FC to start winning matches as many as possible to move away from the relegation redline.
“It is not good for us to draw, we are in a comfort zone for draws because we are right now in the relegation redline and therefore we need to win as many matches as possible so that we may be comfortable,” Kenyatta said.
Talanta have now settled on a back to back draw against AFC Leopards and Sofapaka since beating Wazito FC 2-1 on April 9 and now face a mountain to climb task against hosts Bandari FC at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Saturday.
Sofapaka are sitting 12th with 28 points while FC Talanta lie 13th on 26 points.
