Kenyan artist Sofiya Nzau has collaborated with Nigerian singer Fireboy DML and South African Grammy-winner Nomcebo Zikode to release a new song titled “META,” celebrating African culture through their powerful partnership.
The track is rooted in 3 Step, a new genre that fuses traditional African rhythms with modern sounds. Sofiya explains that the song aims to transform the global music landscape similarly to how Amapiano has done. With its origins in South Africa, 3 Step brings together the rich musical traditions of Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, symbolizing unity and cultural convergence.
“Working with Fireboy and Nomcebo has been an incredible experience,” says the Mwaki hitmaker. “META is an anthem of African unity, celebrating our diverse cultures. For me, it’s another opportunity to showcase the richness of our sound and spirit and another step towards taking Kenyan music to the global stage,” she adds.
Sofiya also notes that the title “META” is intended to embody the themes of harmony, balance, and connection. Through this musical fusion, the artists aspire to foster a movement that transcends borders, uniting listeners around the world through rhythm.
