Former First Lady Mama Margaret Kenyatta delivered a compelling narrative of her journey towards becoming a transformative leader during her speech on Monday.

She addressed the Global First Ladies Academy Programme held in New York, USA, at a VIP dinner organized by the Global First Ladies Alliance in partnership with Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. The event provided a platform for current and former First Ladies to strengthen connections and collaborate with key partners dedicated to advancing health and development in their respective nations.

Mama Margaret expressed deep concern over the alarming rates of maternal and child mortality in Kenya, which inspired her to advocate passionately for the well-being of mothers and children. This commitment led her to establish the BeyondZeroKenya initiative, which she described as a beacon of hope demonstrating the profound impact of a well-executed idea.

Her efforts included participating in marathons to raise awareness and resources for maternal and child health, including the renowned London Marathon.
